Minds Matter Auction Winners! | New York Family Photographer

I had the pleasure of donating a photo shoot to a silent auction this year to benefit a really fantastic organization called Minds Matter. Minds Matter is a national not-for-profit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. They achieve this by providing mentoring, tutoring and enrichment programs — including a writing program, which I volunteered for in the past.

The Wachsburg family won this silent auction item and decided to do a photo shoot in Battery Park, with the Statue of Liberty and Freedom Tower as our backdrop. What started off as a cloudy day eventually turned bright and sunny — although the early dreariness never put a damper on sweet Olivia’s spirits! She was a joy to photograph, getting a kick out of the toys and books we had brought with us — as well as her own dad, who she seems to always find funny! I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to work with such nice people, especially for such a great cause.

One year after taking this beautiful little girl’s newborn photos, I was honored to be asked back to shoot her wonderful first birthday party! Lemonade was just the thing to cool everyone off on Riley’s big day, which was as hot and sunny as they come on Long Island in August! We had a wonderful day toasting to this charming little girl, including lots of games and a spectacular cake smash.

Thank you for including me in yet another exciting milestone for your family! The party was perfect and the birthday girl sweeter than any of the treats offered that day.

There are few moments as special as when one of your closest friends becomes a mom. And when she invites you in -- again! -- to photograph a pivotal moment in her life like this, there is no way to say anything but an emphatic "yes!"

Logan and Jeff welcomed their beautiful boy Gideon into the world just about 10 days before this photo shoot. With a sweet disposition and the most scrumptious little cheeks you've ever seen, this handsome little guy was already pushing 12 lbs! Needless to say, Mama and Papa could not be more proud.

This kid is so much cooler than all of us already...

Sleep well little man... It was a joy to get to meet you so soon!

When Puja and Alok asked me to photograph their newborn baby, I knew I would get to meet an absolutely beautiful little girl! What I didn't expect was their stunning apartment in a beautifully restored townhouse on the Upper West Side -- a classic New York city apartment with beautiful light and shadows. It was a real treat!

We had a wonderful day with bright and curious little Lara, who did not want to sleep one wink while I was there! It was such a joy to capture these early moments with this darling little lady. Thank you for inviting me into your home!

And because no newborn shoot is ever complete without at least one serious meltdown, I couldn't resist this absolutely perfect cry... #reallife

After getting to meet Baby Remy a few weeks ago, I was lucky to get another photo shoot in with him, his parents, grandparents and aunt -- as well as some of their sweet pups! It was an especially sweet gathering, as they were also celebrating Grandpa Ron's birthday!

We took some pictures at home first, then wandered around the beautiful streets of Brooklyn Heights. From an historic art deco apartment building to a bevy classic brownstones, it's amazing the stunning architecture you can see in such a small neighborhood -- and of course you can't omit the promenade looking out at Manhattan at the end of it all! It was a beautiful day and I'm so glad I got to spend it with this awesome family.

We could not have better timed this photo shoot among the cherry blossoms in Central Park this spring! Siena and her parents were a joy to photograph, laughing and smiling all day! We worried that the day might be a little too cloudy for the shoot, but just as they arrived, the haze cleared and the sun poked through to give us some beautiful golden light, especially around the cherry blossoms. Newborn photo shoots are always challenging... Unless of course you're photographing sweet baby Remy, who was about as easy going a baby as I'd ever encountered! We had a really fun day capturing pictures of this funny little guy, as well as his older (furry) brother Revis who wanted to be by the baby's side the whole time! I'm looking forward to our next session together, where I get to capture his whole family on his dad's side -- I imagine it'll be just as fun and carefree as this first shoot! It is such a joy to photograph a newborn baby -- but it's extra special when that baby is the first child of a close friend! That was the case will the adorable little girl Wallis. She's such a sweet girl -- so calm and fun -- and I had a great time capturing these pictures of her! I especially enjoyed all of her cute outfits, including a few gifts from her Grandma Traci. I'm sure we'll have many more opportunities for pictures together, but I'm so grateful to have been asked to capture these first special newborn moments.

I've been lucky to know this sweet, bright-eyed, big cheeked girl since before she was born, and was thrilled when her parents asked me to do a Christmas shoot for them when she was only about two months old! There is no greater job on this planet than dog photographer. Or at least in my opinion. I spent a beautiful Sunday evening with these sweet pups, recently back from their parents' wedding. We had a great time exploring Central Park and the UWS where they live. Both pups hammed it up for the cameras and Kelly even showed off some of her mean jumping skills! We had a gorgeous day for this family photo shoot in Brooklyn Bridge Park! Avni and Nader, and their two adorable girls, Sanaya and Kavya, are moving to Houston this fall and wanted to capture some classic New York images of their family before the move. We had a fun day exploring the park and neighboring pier. Thank you for sharing this special time with me!

After the shoot in Brooklyn Bridge Park, we headed up to their apartment to get a few pictures at home. Sanaya and Kavya had a lot of fun bouncing around on the bed and showing me all of their favorite toys. But of course the most fun toy of all was a simple bed sheet, and Sanaya pretending to get stuck in it!

I love photographing a beautiful expecting mama, but when you combine that with a gorgeous evening in Central Park and one of the most adorable soon-to-be big brothers ever, you've really got an amazing shoot on your hands. This was exactly what happened when I got to capture pictures of Asia and her beautiful family a few weeks back. They are very excited to meet Baby Boy #2 very soon! The Chandlers recently welcomed new addition Sophia into the family and wanted to capture a few pictures of their new family of four in New York. We explored a few spots around Central Park -- including a new favorite jungle gym/statue on 58th street -- and then headed into the Central Park Zoo to check out the animals. It was a very hot day, but these little girls were real troopers. Thanks for sharing this sweet summer day with me!

Of course no photo shoot at the zoo is complete without a picture of some of the animals! Here are two of the famous Central Park Zoo snow leopards -- my absolute favorites! They are such beautiful animals, even when acting silly on a hot New York day.

While we got her big brother and parents into some of the pictures, the focus of the day was on the absolutely scrumptious, roly-poly baby Emma. I wish I got to see this family more often -- they are some of my favorite people! Can you please move back to the east coast?

Handsome Astor | New York Pet Photographer

I had so much fun photographing this handsome boy in Prospect Park this fall, as a surprise gift for his dad! Astor is one of those sweet pups who exemplifies why you should rescue a pet. He is so loving and fun -- and completely attached to his mama. We had a blast running around in the leaves and playing with other pups. This charming little guy definitely stole my heart (and I'm sure I won't be the last to say that)!
